<p>Plan to attend one of our General Orientations!</p>

<p>Any potential volunteers please come to one of these, held monthly.&nbsp; They last about an hour and include the history of Davis Media Access, a tour of the facilities, and information on how to get involved.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Anybody is welcome to attend an Orientation, but to use the facility for your own productions you have to live, go to school, or volunteer at an organization in Davis, California.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Davis Media Access does not charge for the use of our equipment and facilities and attending a General Orientation is the first step for getting involved.</p>

Final Cut Pro X Workshop - Color Correction & Grading Wednesday, November 8, 2017 - 7:00pm

<p>Color conveys information and mood in our productions, and it can be used both realistically and artistically. How color is represented has changed as we have moved from chemical to digital formats. Learn the basics of color representation in video formats, and how we can correct for errors in the capture/recording process, and how we can alter color for artistic effects. Lecture w/ overheads and Q.&amp; A.</p>

DCTV Television Studio Workshop Wednesday, November 15, 2017 - 3:30pm

Training for how to crew a DCTV television production.  You will learn how to run a studio camera, be a floor manager, and run the studio audio board in the control room.  You’ll also learn how to set-up and tear-down the studio for a production, including the proper stowing of cables, configuring lighting, setting up microphones, and flipping the On-Air switch! Hands-on demonstration w/ Q.& A.
Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing!

 
DMA Workshop - Camera Basics: Sound 1 Thursday, November 16, 2017 - 6:45pm

<p>Learn the basics of sound recording and representation. Sound 1 will provide you with a basic understanding of terminology and technology involved in the capture of sound/audio in general and for your production. We will cover basic mic types and what situations they are used for, as well as the options for acquiring sound for your project, using the Canon XA-25 and TASCAM Dr-100 Mk.II as our example recording gear. Lecture w/ hands-on and Q.&amp; A.</p>

DMA Workshop - Camera Basics: Sound 2 Thursday, November 16, 2017 - 8:00pm

<p>This workshop covers microphone selection and various options and tips for capturing clear, intelligible audio with the intended purpose of recording interviews (as opposed to musical performance (Sound 3) or film work (Sound 4)). Lecture w/ overheads and Q &amp; A.</p>

DCTV Website: Reservations & Resources Training Wednesday, November 29, 2017 - 7:00pm

<p>Training for how to use DCTV&#39;s website to make reservations, create show records, add episodes, and otherwise manage your production(s) at Davis Media Access. A review of available equipment and the requirements for checkout or use will also be included. Moving forward, this workshop and the skills learned in it will be required to make use of DCTV&#39;s facilities. Bringing your own laptop to follow along is suggested, but not required. Lecture w/ hands-on and Q.&amp; A.</p>
