SUMMER 'KID VIDEO CAMP' OFFERED AT DAVIS MEDIA ACCESS
Davis Media Access (DMA) announces open registration for its popular
summer "Kids Video Camp" workshop.
Kids Video Camp is a one-week session in television & radio
production for youth aged 10-13. Participants will learn how to produce
a program in DMA's studio, including storyboarding, operating cameras
and sound equipment, and media literacy training. They will also get
hands-on experience in the booth at KDRT 101.5 FM, DMA's low-power
community radio station.
The class dates are daily from 9 a.m. to noon, July 9 through July 14,
with another camp July 23-28. Attendance at all six sessions is
required and prompt attendance is a must. Cost for the week is $125 per
student and is payable in advance.
Davis Media Access is a non-profit community media center serving
Davis. Its television workshops are generally open to youth aged
14 and older, so "Kids Video Camp presents a unique summer learning
opportunity for younger kids," said Ian Dawson, a DMA staff member who
will teach the course.
"Kids Video Camp has been designed to be hands-on, participatory, and
team oriented," Dawson said.
Kids must live or study in Davis to be eligible to participate.
Workshop enrollment forms are available at DMA, located at 1623 Fifth
Street in Davis. Class fees must be paid at the time of registration.
The class is limited to 8 participants. Registration is first-come,
first-served and closes Friday, July 6 at 5 pm for the first camp and
Friday, July 20 at 5pm for the second camp. For more information,
please call DCTV at 757-2419.
