Business-Sponsored Public Service Announcements
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are short announcements that serve to promote the public interest, and/or the specific activities of non-profits and government agencies. They are distributed free of charge to the public, as opposed to advertisements, which promote commercial interests and can cost thousands of dollars. It’s important to note that as a non-profit community media center, DMA cannot produce commercial advertisements.

Sponsoring a PSA offers your business these benefits:
- Help bring about conditions that might favor your business practice. For example, promoting bicycling as transportation could drive demand for bicycles
- Position your business as promoting the public good, developing good public relations in the process
- Partner with DMA, a local non-profit with more than 26 years experience using media to support local content development
A PSA can include your logo, shown briefly, and language identifying your business as the sponsor. However, PSAs may not contain blatant commercial messages. Such determination is at the sole discretion of the distributor (DMA). For an estimate, email email@example.com.
For Radio – Program Underwriting
DMA holds the license and provides operational support for KDRT 95.7 FM, a low-power, grassroots community radio station launched in 2004. Through its on-air programming, and streaming and archives at kdrt.org, KDRT reaches thousands of motivated listeners every day.
We acknowledge business contributions to KDRT with brief on-air messages called underwriting. Underwriting is to community radio what advertising is to commercial radio. The difference, however, is clear: commercial stations may air as much as 18 minutes of advertising time per hour. KDRT airs less than one minute of underwriting per hour, which means our underwriters aren't lost in a sea of commercial hype.
Our listeners make a conscious choice to tune in to KDRT for unique, high-quality programming that's locally grown and culturally enriching--and our listeners appreciate businesses that support their station. In a nutshell, underwriting on KDRT enables businesses to partner with an important community resource--KDRT--to demonstrate their own community involvement, and effectively and affordably get their message out to a relevant audience.
