Today’s media world requires a variety of skills to navigate. The ability to connect and communicate with others using digital tools creates opportunities for work, family, and community service.
The film and television industry is a behemoth, and that doesn’t even include YouTube, online video, industrial video, wedding videos, marketing and social media! All these have career opportunities for someone with storytelling and film production skills, as well as make-up, costumes, set design and building, etc. There are also useful business skills to be had in the realm of production organization, team communications and more.
In this workshop, we will do a deep dive into film making and the basic skills needed throughout the pipeline to produce a short or feature film.
This intensive 40 hour workshop includes 18 lessons, plus screenings, breaks, and hands-on time. For teens who are serious about learning about film and the film industry. We will be touching upon everything from storytelling to storyboarding, cameras to composition, producing and pre-production through production, industry jobs to set skills and etiquette, sound recording, editing, effects, and beyond! Participants will work together on a sample film, plus receive feedback throughout the workshop on their own scripts if they so desire. (Note: We will be shooting only the group project.) The final lesson will cover the business of film, film schools, and how students can continue to learn about film making and expanding their skill sets. Bonus material will cover casting, acting, rehearsals and creating performances!
Early registration is encouraged, because our workshops do tend to fill quickly. The registration deadline is Wed, June 24th.
