- About Me
Our work at DMA is collaborative, open, engaging, fun, and done for community benefit. I love my work and feel privileged to do it, and I work with an awesome community of staff, board and volunteers. Open access to information and community building are why I do what I do!
I have worked in media, in one form or another, for more than 20 years. A stint as a reporter and then editor of The California Aggie at UC Davis led to an abiding interest in finding out what makes people tick and telling their stories. I worked in print media for several years, then began in the non-profit field, working primarily in community relations and grassroots lobbying.
In 1995, a newly created position in Community Relations at Davis Community Television (now Davis Media Access) enticed me to explore electronic media. I’ve been with the organization ever since, serving as its Assistant Director, Director of Operations, and since 2006, its Executive Director. I produce programming for DCTV Channel 15, including local election programming, and also host Speakeasy, a public affairs show on KDRT, our low-power FM station.
My monthly column on media and telecommunications is published in The Davis Enterprise the last Thursday of each month, and has been since 1996! I’ve also been published in a wide range of media journals, online media, and other periodicals.
