<p>Learn all about Davis Media Access, Davis Community Television and KDRT 95.7 LP-FM, our community radio station.&nbsp; This orientation explains the volunteer opportunities and resources available for community members to use, as well as the history and structure of DMA. Orientation also covers creating a DCTV user account (needed to check out equipment),<b> </b>how to make reservations, creating show and episode records for your productions, and what equipment is available so you can get started right away.</p>

Final Cut Pro X: Editing Basics (& Organizing Your Footage) Wednesday, February 12, 2020 - 7:00pm

We will start with and organizing and importing your footage and then cover approaches you can take in laying out your timeline. Core tools and types of edits will be covered, as well as the principles that most editors abide by in selecting materials for either side of an edit. We will also cover applying basic transitions and audio fades and cross fades. Editing is a core skill of filmmaking, with many even defining filmmaking in terms of editing. Lecture (using big TV/projector) w/ hands-on for those with Macbooks and Final Cut Pro X.

If you do not have a Macbook you can still take notes on the handouts for using with FCPX in our edit suites or at home.

Podcasting Basics 101 (Audio) - Content, Distribution & Sponsorship Wednesday, February 19, 2020 - 6:30pm

What is going to be your content and who will be listening? How will they receive your podcast and listen to it? We will discuss options for the hosting and distribution of your podcast. We’ll also discuss some of the considerations of having sponsors (commercial & non-commercial) and how that can affect your distribution & potentially your content. iTunes, Patreon, Kickstarters, etc. will be discussed. We’ll also cover copyright rules regarding music, jingles, etc.
Lecture and Q&A, time also includes a break.
