Final Cut Pro X: Editing Basics (& Organizing Your Footage)

We will start with and organizing and importing your footage and then cover approaches you can take in laying out your timeline. Core tools and types of edits will be covered, as well as the principles that most editors abide by in selecting materials for either side of an edit. We will also cover applying basic transitions and audio fades and cross fades. Editing is a core skill of filmmaking, with many even defining filmmaking in terms of editing. Lecture (using big TV/projector) w/ hands-on for those with Macbooks and Final Cut Pro X. If you do not have a Macbook you can still take notes on the handouts for using with FCPX in our edit suites or at home.
