Davis Media Access (DMA) encourages people from all walks of life to get involved. Getting involved in your community media center is extremely satisfying. Learning new skills and sharpening old ones, all while improving our shared civic life, are just a few of the benefits. Working on projects and with organizations representing the full spectrum of our community leaves participants flush with inspiration and more aware of diverse perspectives.
Currently, DMA asks all new participants to attend a General Orientation. These 1 hour sessions happen once per month, usually in the evening, and include some history and background, examples of media produced, and a tour of the facilities.
At the Orientation, questions will be answered about specific ways to get involved, depending on your interests, as well as suggested next steps. Some typical options for an individual are becoming a DCTV Sponsor, DCTV Volunteer Producer, a KDRT Volunteer Programmer, or Internships. We always welcome individual supporters as well- those who simply want to donate time or funds to help sustain our mission.
Organizations or businesses are welcome to become underwriters or partners. We strive to leverage resources among fellow nonprofits and local businesses to help achieve our collective goals, and welcome exploration of strategies that result in mutually beneficial underwriting or organizational partnerships.
