This is a free workshop and a part of Davis Media Access ongoing mission to train the public in local community media.
Who are all those people in the seemingly endless credits after the latest blockbuster movie? Ever wonder what a Grip is? Are there any other jobs in media besides Writer, Director, Producer, Actor? What does a Showrunner do? How many Gaffers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? (Do they even use lightbulbs anymore?) What are unions and guilds? How do I get an Agent? Who earns residuals? Can I make money from game streaming?
Going well beyond the nebulous term “Content Creator,” this workshop covers these questions and more. The media industry encompasses film, television, radio, online streaming, as well as various print media and websites. The workshop format includes a presentation with time for Q&A.
This event will be conducted via Zoom. When you register you'll be contacted before the event with the link and password. Please have Zoom installed and updated on your computer before the meeting starts. The meeting will be recorded for internal use, but is unlikely to be made available afterwards.
