Philanthropic deeds come in all different shapes and sizes — charitable giving, volunteering, board service, etc.— and each Nov 15, National Philanthropy Day is celebrated in the United States.
Locally, Yolo Community Foundation (YCF) provides an opportunity for area nonprofits to recognize an outstanding volunteer via its Yolo Philanthropy Day Celebration. Our pick this year is Davis resident Tim Gaffaney.
Tim is a Political Science and Public Policy professor who serves as adjunct faculty at Sacramento City College. Tim is also an avid supporter of the arts, involved with Stories on Stage Davis, Davis Shakespeare Festival, and Davis Media Access. This past year, Tim helped DMA tell the story of the pandemic's impacts on local arts organizations by remotely producing and hosting many episodes of "In the Studio," greatly increasing their reach and scope during this challenging time. His latest interview, focusing on interactive art gallery and community center Taller Arte del Nuevo Amanecer, can be seen here
We're very grateful to Tim for his volunteerism! We’ll celebrate him as part of YCF’s event, Nov. 15, 2022 at 4:30-6:30 pm at El Macero Country Club.
