This second New Field Camera Orientation on Thursday October 16, from 6:30pm-8:30pm is ONLY offered to volunteers currently in good standing and who have DCTV Field Camera certification.
No RSVP needed- just show up at the station!
This means if you have not already checked out a camera from DMA, you are not eligible to attend this New Field Camera Orientation.
If you are new to DMA, consider attending a General Orientation.
Davis Media Access has purchased 3 new Canon XA-25 cameras. These "camcorder" type cameras are meant to replace the aging GL-2 and Canon Vixia cameras in our field checkout inventory - although all cameras will still be available.
The Canon XA-25 is a great video camera - Jeff recently recorded and edited this piece using it - check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G5o5BPwzrM.
The XA-25 has 2 XLR audio inputs, a large CMOS sensor (1/2.84"), 20x optical zoom, amazing image stabilization, and touchscreen menu access. It also handles slow-motion very well due to proper overcranking - shooting footage at a frame rate that is faster than the playback frame rate - very cool! Lastly, the camera records your footage using MP4 or AVCHD formats (or both codecs simultaneously!) for later editing, all onto SD cards.
